Description

Beautifully hand-drawn and hand-painted map of the Catalonian coast, in the vicinity of Palamos, executed in the late 18th century by a naval cartographer.

The highly decorative map includes three depictions of naval vessels, a compass rose, and numerous depth soundings, speaking to this chart's use as an instrument of navigation. The map deals with the town of St. Philion, near the city of Palamós in Spanish Catalonia.

The map is attractively executed in the classic French style, characterized by the teal-blue wash color and the red and yellow compass rose.
