Second State of the Marriott View of San Francisco
Rare early view of San Francisco, published as a supplement to the San Francisco Newsletter, California Advertiser.
The view covers the region from North Beach to Rincon Point, showing San Francisco at a moment in time where it was becoming a major maritime commercial center in the western Pacific.
The view is noteworthy for its granular treatment of the city, with nearly 200 points of interest located. This is almost certainly the single most detailed view of the period, with a remarkable number important San Francisco landmarks shown in the key.
