Description

Reduced size Dutch edition of Mitchell's map of North America, which first appeared in Isaak Tirion's Hedendaagsche Historie, of Tegenwoordige Staat van Groot Brittannie. Tweede Deels eerste Stuk, published in Amsterdam in 1755.

The map faithfully reproduces Mitchell's map on a reduced sake, including the colonial boundaries, stretching to the Mississippi River and behond, with several interesting annotations. The map was re-issued in 1769 in Tirion's Nieuwe en Beknopte Hand-Atlas.

Isaak Tirion Biography

Isaak Tirion was a prominent Dutch publisher based in Amsterdam in the eighteenth century. He is best known for historical works that included prints showing scenes from around the world. He also produced maps, such as those in the Nieuwe Hand-Atlas of 1744.
