Gilmore's Map of the City of Atlanta

Detailed map of the city of Atlanta and surrounding suburbs.

The map uses different circles, each of which is a mile out from the last, to illustrate the area and infrastructure of a neighborhood. Notable Atlanta neighborhoods like Ansley Park, Five Points, and the West End are shown. Inside these areas, the map shows public locations like Piedmont and Grant Park or the city's three colleges.

The inset on the top right shows the College Park neighborhood which includes the Atlanta Municipal Aiport. Additionally, the district lines are depicted in the inset.

The verso includes a comprehensive list of the streets in Atlanta. The streets are listed alphabetically with coordinates so one can find them on the map's grid. Above the street names is a smaller list of "Outstanding points of general interest." These points are numbered and correspond to an inset map, Greater Atlanta Georgia, which shows each location corresponding to their location in and around downtown Atlanta.

This is one of a number of editions of the map that were made (with different insets), tracking Atlanta's urban and suburban growth in the middle of the 20th century.

Separate maps of Atlanta, even from as late as the 1940s, are quite scarce.
