Description

Scarce miniature map of South Florida and the Caribbean Islands, from the exceedingly rare Nurmberg edition of DuVal's La Geographie Universelle, first published in Paris in 1660.

The map is centered on Hispaniola and the Bahamas, called here the "Lucaies".  

Tegeste appears in Florida, a reference to the local Tequesta tribe.  The map extends top the Venezuelan Coastline and Trinidad, with Curacao named.
