Stay at the Ambassador While In LA

A pamphlet produced by Schine Hotels who owned the Hotel Ambassador during the mid-20th century. Colorful and vibrant, the brochure advertises the beauty of Los Angeles and centralized location of the hotel to downtown, Hollywood, and the airport.

The primary feature of the brochure is the green, sprawling depiction of Los Angeles with the Ambassador Hotel at the center of everything. Around the hotel are iconic Los Angeles destinations such as the Coliseum, Rose Bowl, and the University of Southern California. All locations have an illustration of the attraction in question. Other illustrations can be seen in the ocean, mostly people fishing, swimming, or sailing to indicate the leisure opportunities at the beach. Below the map is a bit of text that explains how to make a reservation, get to the hotel, and the amenities available while enjoying your stay.

The next image features an illustration of the Ambassador with some text that describes the hotel's 25-acre grounds and newly remolded convention center and ballroom. There are four smaller paragraphs and drawings in this section. They depict the Embassy (ball) Room, the French Room and Dolphin Court, Coffee Shop, and the renowned Cocoanut Grove nightclub.

The Ambassador Hotel was a famous location largely in part to the people who frequented it as guests and entertainers. Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, and Barbra Streisand, all performed and frequented the Ambassador during its heyday. The hotel hosted every president from Hoover to Nixon as well as six Oscar ceremonies. More tragically, the hotel was the location for the 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy which brought the Ambassador a decent amount of infamy.
