Description

World War II-era chart in 1:3,000,000 scale of eastern Indonesia, showing the Batu Islands, Bangka, Belitung, southern Sumatra, and western Java and Borneo, issued shortly after the colony, came under Japanese occupation for its oil and rubber reserves after Dutch surrender.

AtoNs (Aids to Navigation), such as lighthouses, buoys, and beacons, have their lighting abbreviation— flashing (Fl.), group flashing (Gp. Fl.), occulting (Occ.), and group occulting (Gp. Occ.)— and location marked with a blue dot.

Condition Description
Two tears (with some paper loss) at right edge, not affecting image. Minor fold toning. Uncolored maps of Batavia, Cocos Island, North Keeling, Christmas, Billiton, Mentawai Islands, and Padang Area on verso.
