Description

Fine vintage travel brochure showing the Monterey Peninsula's famous "Seventeen Mile Drive," published in c. 1950.

The map shows the Monterey Peninsula, including Pacific Grove, Cypress Point, Carmel, and of course the famous Pebble Peach Golf Links. Roads are shown throughout, and the Seventeen Mile Drive is highlighted in yellow.

Prior to its association with the world-famous golf course, Pebble Beach was a quaint retreat on California’s Monterey Peninsula. The lodge was purchased by Samuel Finley Brown Morse, ‘The Duke of Del Monte’, in 1919 and was incorporated into his extensive real estate holdings in the area.

The map is backed on poster linen, but the verso would normally include an advertisement for the Del Monte Lodge, as well as a list of sights along the drive.
