Description

Uncommon engraved folding map of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut from October of 1775.

The map depicts counties, townships, towns, and meeting-houses. It shows roads, forts, and landmarks from Boston leading to New York and elsewhere.

Charleston "in ruins" is noted, as is Bunkers Hill.

Following the map is a concise text which relates to the map:

A short description of the present Seat of War in North-America, illustrated with a new and accurate Map of the Province of Massachusett's-Bay, Connecticut, Rhode-Island, and Providence, exhibiting at one View the vast Tract of Country now in Arms against Great Britain.

Condition Description
Octavo. Contemporary half calf and marbled boards. Untrimmed. Spine leather a bit worn, with chipping at head and toe. Corners worn. Internally crisp and clean. With the map particularly nice. [2], 378, [4] pages. Complete with the folded map and all 19 plates (including frontispiece). Engraved title vignette. Armorial bookplate of Russell of Aden.
