Description

This captivating vintage poster, depicting the Earth as seen from the Moon, is one of the first images to showcase our planet in its entirety from space. Known as "Earthrise," the iconic photo was captured by astronaut William Anders during the Apollo 8 mission on December 24, 1968. Nature photographer Galen Rowell called it "the most influential environmental photograph ever taken."

The poster features a quote from Scottish essayists Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881), which reads, "So here hath been dawning a new blue day, think, wilt thou let it slip useless away?"

Looart, the company responsible for creating the poster, was founded in 1947 by Orin Loo, it was sold in the 1980s.
