Description

Early geological sketch map of Texas, published by Frederick Wislezenus in 1848.

The map extends from above the Arkansas River to Saltillo in the south and the Rio del Norte in the west, with geological features names, a few places named including Metamoros, Laredo, San Antonio de Bexar, Saucillo, Chihuahua, Paso del Norte, Santa Fe, Bent's Fort, etc.

The map appeared in Wislezenus's Memoir of a Tour to Northern Mexico, which was first published in Senate Misc. Doc. No. 26, 30th Congress, 1st session and would later be re-issued in German in 1850.
