First View of Pensacola Drawn an Eyewitness Account of the Settlement

Scarce early view of Pensacola, published in Amsterdam, based on an original drawing by Dominic Serres.

The image depicts the Spanish settlement at Pensacola in 1743.  The image shows Santa Rosa Island looking south from inside the bay, and is the first eyewitness view of Pensacola.
 

Isaak Tirion Biography

Isaak Tirion was a prominent Dutch publisher based in Amsterdam in the eighteenth century. He is best known for historical works that included prints showing scenes from around the world. He also produced maps, such as those in the Nieuwe Hand-Atlas of 1744.
