Last year we shipped over 4,500 antique maps to more than 50 countries. Maps are shipped Monday through Friday year-round. If an order is received before 2 PM PST, we will ship the order that day. If an order is received after that time, we will ship the next day. We ship maps either flat in custom packages or in specially ordered thick tubes. Shipping rates are provided as part of the checkout process.

Description

Important Florida railway map produced by the Poole Brothers for Southern Railway in 1915.

The main image covers all of Florida east of the Apalachicola River. There are two insets, one of the American Southeast and one of Cuba.

The Touchton Map Library has at least nine variants of the Southern Railway map, including the present map, which might be termed the Kansas City-Florida Special.

Condition Description

Folding map mounted in original paper folder. Some toning at old folds.

The practices of the Outina warriors after winning a battle, as described by Jacques le Moyne. Enemies who perished in the battle were scalped, and the scalps were then held over a fire to allow the skin to dry. The bodies were then dismembered, with the arms and legs also serving as symbols of their tribe's power and triumph over their enemy. The final step in declaring victory was to thrust an arrow into the anus of the enemies' corpses.
