Description

A nice example of Visscher's map of the wanderings through the Eastern Mediterranean and Levant, based upon biblical prophecies. Paul's route is shown, along with dozens of biblical placenames. The 9 vignettes depict his travels. About a dozen small sailing vessels are also shown. Excellent and interesting detail thoughout this early and influential map, which was often copied over the next 100 years. cf. Laor 796.
