Description

Engraving of the constellations seen from the northern hemisphere centered on the northern celestial pole. Draco, the North Star, and Ursa Minor are pictured around the center. Thirty-four of Ptolemy's forty-eight constellations, minus Ara, Argo Navis, Centaurus, Corona Australis, Corvus, Crater, Eridanus, Lepus, Lupus, Pisces Austrinus, Sagittarius, and Scorpius in the southern sky, as well as Aquarius and Capricorn, are illustrated. This chart was published by Francesco Marmocchi in Florence in 1838.

The constellations mapped are Ophiuchus or Serpentarius, Serpens, Aquila, Antinous, Delphinus, Equuleus, Pegasus, Pisces, Aries, Cetus, Taurus, Orion, Monoceros, Canis Minor, Hydra, Sextans, Virgo, Bootes, Serpens, Corona Borealis, Hercules, Cerberus, Lyra,  Vulpecula et Anser, Sagitta, Cygnus, Lacerta, Andromeda, Triangulum, Triangulum Minus, Perseus, Musca Borealis, Auriga (with Capella),  Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Leo Minor, Coma Berenices, Draco, Cepheus, Cassiopeia, Camelopardalis, Rangifer, Ursa Major, Canes Venatici, and Ursa Minor.

Condition Description
Binding tab at bottom margin with some tear nearby on lower right margin. Some foxing, confined to margins.
