Description

Fine large double-hemispheric world map, illustrating Protestant Missionary stations around the world in 1838.

The map identifies approximately 300 global missionary stations keyed alphabetically, with different symbols locating 19 different Missionary Societies.

The stations are largely located among indigenous populations, in the Americas, South Pacific, Asia and Africa. While some are in what are now modern population centers like Singapore, Mysore, Smyrna (Ismir), Rio De Janeiro, etc., most were operating in places populated by Native American and Caribbean Peoples, or in the Indian sub-continent.

A fine example in original color.
