How to Read the Coming of the Apocalypse in the Stars
Fascinating depiction based on complex astrological theories demonstrating how the coming of the apocalypse can be divined from the stars. Published by Charles Francois Dupuis in the atlas volume his Origine des tous les cultes ou religion universelle, this work was printed in 1822.
The explanation that accompanies this depiction of the constellations suggests that this was a view of the sky that was shown to John in Revelations. Supposedly, one of the critical aspects here is the alignment of the "four mythical creatures," being the constellations of Aquarius, Leo, the eagle, and the bull. At the center of the chart is a depiction of the spherical Ptolemaic world view, with the four elements at the center of the rings and the realm of the angels at the outside.
