Description

"Unless You Come In a Helipcopter or a Jeep, Watch Out When the Map Indicates a Road's End, It Means It!'

Rare pictorial map of Laurel Canyon, drawn by artist James Wren Lister in 1949.

The map provides a topographical image of the roads in the Canyon, with side panels providing a whimsical look at its local landmarks and natural features.

James Wren Lister (1897-1952), and English born artist who settled in Los Angeles in 1925, was also the artist for the 1948 pictorial map / view Avalon Town Santa Catalina Island California.  The map seems to be self published, as Lister is the copyright holder, according to the Catalog of Copyright Entries 1949 Maps Jan-Dec 3D Ser Vol 3 Pt 6.  F6201.
