Description

Detailed vintage street map of the City of Los Angeles, prepared by the Clason Map Company for the Lyon Fire Proof Storage Co., and published in Los Angeles in 1922.

The main map is of central Los Angeles north to Griffith Park and south to the beginning of the "Shoestring" Annexation. The map is overprinted in red with the locations of two Lyon Fireproof Storage locations in Downton. Surrounding the map image is a street index of hundreds of street names. Two illustrations of Lyon moving vehicles (an early truck and rail car) are at the top of the map. On the verso is a map of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, titled "Clason's Map of Los Angeles District".

The Clason Map Company was prolific during this period and did a brisk business in preparing maps for companies to issue as promotional items, as here.
