Description

Detailed 2 sheet topographical strip map between Council Bluffs, Iowa, to west of Great Salt Lake, Utah, showing located and experimental lines and profile of grades.

The various state borders are shown in Outline Color. Shows substantial parts of Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nebraska and Nevada, primarily topographical details, although a number of major cities, placenames and other notes are included.

We have been unable to locate any example of the map, other than a poor copy in the Library of Congress, which is uncolored.

It is also noteworthy that our copy has the name Wyoming added in color and manuscript, which is not present in the LC copy. Murray Hudson has identified a reduced sized reproduction of the map, published by Varineau & Randall.

On the verso of the map on the linen is the handwritten note: Jno (?) F. Noble, Carlisle, Pa. June 27, 1869. .
