Celebrating 300 Years -- 1636 to 1936

Finely executed pictorial map of Harvard and Radcliffe, designed and drawn by Edwin J. Schruers to celebrate the Tercentenary of the founding of Harvard in 1636.

Drawn in the style of a birdseye view, the map looks across the Charles River from the south, extending north to Andover Hall and the Biological Labratory.  

At the upper left, a drawing of Harvard College in 1726 is shown (with John Harvard below).  The Arms of the houses of Lowell, Eliot, Winthrop, Dunster, Kirkland, Adams and Leverett at the top right corner.

At the  bottom left, Harvard's 1693 "Coney seal" is woven elegantly into a compass rose.
