The map shows the route of the U.S. Army 5th Armored Infantry Division during World War II as it moved from just northeast of Paris on August 30, 1944, continuing the push through France and Belgium, reaching the Rhine River March 5, 1945, including the dates and times each objective was reached and taken.

Part of Patton's 3rd Army, the 5th Division was the first American division to break the Siegfried Line and enter Germany, subsequently helping repulse a German counterattack in the Ardennes by an attack from south of Eupen during the Battle of the Bulge (Dec.-Jan. 1944)
