Description

Wonderful early map of a part of Mexico and Central America, extending from Bahia De Campeche (not named) and the Southern Yucatan to Panama. Approximately 50+ place names, primarily coastal. Valladoolid, Olancho, Capt de Austria, Santiago de Guatimala, and Chiapa are named in the interior, along with Lag denicaragua. Herrera y Tordesillas work was one of the major works of its time and represents one of the few Spanish imprints from the early 17th Century of this region which is obtainable for collectors. First edition of this important map, only the second printed map to focus on this region after Wytfliet's map of 1597, although this map is probably the first map to focus almost exclusively on Central America. Kapp 4.
