Drawn by Irvin Shope commemorating the Santa Fe Trail is highlighted with little figures, animals and buildings with descriptive texts. Encompasses all or part of Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa and Missouri. Legend of Trails at lower right with 16 trails listed. Below the map image text reads in part: "Issued by American Pioneer Trail Association as Part of 1946 National Commemoration Honoring Pioneers of Trade in America.

This pictographic map - suggestive of some of the historic and colorful history of the great Southwest - has been made available through the generous co-operation of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway System whose pioneers projected and built the main line along the old Santa Fe Trail."
