Commercial Air Travel in the 1930s

Scarce pictorial airline route map and souvenir log book, promoting Northwest Airlines.

Fine map divided into three sections showing the air route from Milwaukee to Portland and Seattle in the Pacific Northwest. The top panel includes Milwaukee to Fargo, the middle routes from Fargo to Billings with an additional route north to Winnipeg, the lower panel covers the route from Billings to Portland and Seattle. In each panel are pictorial features highlighting the character of the region.

The map identifies the following landmarks:

  • Airport (Lighted)
  • Auxiliary Airport (Lighted)
  • Airport (Unlighted)
  • Northwest Airline Radio Station
  • Beacon
  • Civil Aeronautics Authority Radio Station

A great look into Pre-World War II commercial air travel.
