Antique Map of the Southeastern Portion of the United States

Rare highly detailed general map of the Confederate states extending from the Atlantic to the western borders of Louisiana ,Arkansas, and Missouri, and from the Gulf of Mexico to the southern portions of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The map shows roads, railroads, cities and towns, rivers, state boundaries, and relief by hachures.

The following advertisement appeared in the New York Times on July 3, 1862.

A GOOD MAP. -- We have received a copy of the new edition of SCHEDLER's "Military Map of the Middle and Southern States," showing the seat of war during the rebellion. It is by far the most comprehensive map yet issued, and offers great facilities in following the military operations in all parts of rebeldom. Mr. SCHAUS. No. 749 Broadway, is the publisher.

Rarity

The map is very rare.  We were not able to locate any other examples at auction or in dealer catalogs.

Condition Description
Laid on modern linen. Abrasion with loss of image in the Atlantic and a repaired tear.
