Fine bird's eye view of New Orleans, published in the 1850s, based upon a view by Bachmann.

Fine early view of New Orleans looking across the Mississippi River toward Lake Pontchartrain.  The view shows most of the urban core of New Orleans, with fine detail.

In the foreground, the steamboats Magnolia, Creole, Belle Key, Natchez and America are visible along with sailing ships at the port.

The Vieux Carre and Central Business District are shown in great detail. In the foreground, the Marine Hospital at McDonoughville can be seen.

Condition Description
Minor restoration in the printed image. Top margin added, with top line reinstated in facsimile.
