Description

Fine promotional broadside map, illustrating routes of the Canadian Pacific Railway, published in London by Geographia.

Established in 1881, Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) would ultimately embark on many other ventures, including abattoirs, animal husbandry, bus transportation, china and crockery, containers and pallets, forestry, foundries, immigration and colonization, insurance, irrigation, manufacturing, oil, pulp and paper, radio broadcasts, stockyards, trucking, waste management.

In 1942, CPR took to the skies, amalgamating 10 northern bush plane companies into Canadian Pacific Airlines.

The service routes shown on the smaller map suggest that the map was printed in about 1956, when service to Amsterdam commenced.
