The cartouche includes allegorical figures and the coats of arms of St. Petersburg and the Russian Empire and a cornucopia.

This map is the companion to another map by Grimmel Der Sinus Finnicus von Constad bis St Petersburg benebst den auf seinen Kusten... The National Maritime Museum Greenwich's copy can be seen here.

The mapmaker, Ivan Grimmel (1703-1758), was a German working in Russia and is also known as Johann Elias Grimmel.

Condition Description
Few marginal tears repaired and some small reinstatement in bottom margin at the centerfold.
