Vote YES on Proposition No. 3 --  Improving Los Angeles Harbor

Scarce bird's eye view of Los Angeles, apparently prepared by the Chamber of Commerce.

This remarkable birdseye view details significant harbor expansion proposals then being considered by the City of Los Angeles. The view was apparently printed by the Chamber as a promotional item, in support of the passage of Proposition no. 3 in the June 5, 1923 election, which would enable bonds to be issued to finance harbor expansion and growth. The view is remarkably detailed, and includes an inset map of the LA Basin, illustrations of ships and an old lighthouse and the high points for the planned improvements on the front. The verso includes the key for the numbered places on the front and two harbor illustrations.

The view is apparently quite rare. We located information on a variant example in World Cat, but no other references. A fascinating snapshot of the history of Los Angeles and its early development.
