Description

This Map Hatched and Drawn By Lindgren Brothers of Post No. 9 Who Learned To Make Signs In France

Rare early Lindgren Brothers pictorial map of the state of Washington, prepared for the 1934 American Legion State Convention in Washington, which was sponsored by Bohemian Breweries of Spokane

The map records each of the American Legion Posts in Washington by name and is full of humor, puns and comic vignettes related to the State of Washinngton.

The Lindgren Brothers issued a number of other silly whimsical maps of national parks and other parts of the West, beginning in 1933.

The present map seems to be a bit different than many of the Lindgren Brothers other maps for two reasons.  One, the word "Hysterical" is not in the primary title.  Second, there are clear sponsors for the map -- the American Legion and Bohemian Breweries of Spokane.  This map also bears no copyright and may have been a volunteer production, done by the brothers because of their affiliation with the American Legion.
