Description

Interesting early map of North America, shortly after the French & Indian War.

Excellent detail in the British Colonies and along the Mississippi Valley. Florida is shown as an archipelgo. The "suppos'd Head of Mississipi" is shown. The region west of the Missouri River, south to Texas is labeled "Great Space of Land unknown."

In the southwest, the map extends north to Santa Fe, with the Gila River called "Apostles R" and several early settlements noted in southern Arizona.

The map follows in the style of Emanuel Bowen's 4 sheet map of North America, published for the first time shortly before the French & Indian War.

Condition Description
