With the Famed Leo Belgicus Map.

Folio, antique-style leather binding. 25 double-page engraved maps and plates, all in excellent, period-correct hand-coloring. 

The most important atlas exclusively devoted to the Netherlands, and also the first folio atlas of Dutch regions (with the 1st edition having been published 1617), by Petrus Kaerius or Pieter van den Keere.

The atlas includes extensive texts by Petrus Montanus who was married to Hondius' sister.

The atlas contains the famous Leo Belgicus of the lion rampant facing right, by Henricus van Langren, which Kaerius included for the first time in the 1617 edition. In the text on the verso, Kaerius acknowledges the adaption of the lion from Von Aitzing.

Title and first leaf of text remargined and supplied from another edition, as with the last leaf of text; Leo Belgicus map printed upside down, additional very talented restorations in the margins and gutters of some leaves.
