Original antique Japanese woodblock broadside. This is a translation guide, primarily a linguistic guide for translating Japanese Kanji into English pronunciation.
The broadside can be dated by the appearance of the Kanji for "five countries" in the far left. This likely places the map to the Edo Period, when Japan had a treaty with five countries (the US, Netherlands, Russia, England, and France).
