Description

Lithographed map of the Civil War Battle of Funkstown, which took place near the Potomac River on July 10, 1863.

The battle was part of the Gettysburg Campaign and was effectively a Union assault on General Lee's rearguard as the Army of Nothern Virginia effected its retreat from Pennsylvania.

The battle resulted in 479 combined casualties, and after they gained little ground, Union forces withdrew, securing the retreat for another day.

Two small worm tracks at the Union lines along the central vertical fold.
