Description

Rare Louis XV Plan of France by Two Benedictine Monks

Fine large format map of France, composed by D. Michel Felibien, and revised by D.G. Alexis Lobineau two Benedictine priests from the Congregation St. Maur.

The map was published by Guillaume Desprez and Jean Desessartz. The present example has a new title pasted over the old map.

The map providers a highly detailed look at France during the reign of Louis XV. The details with the town are meticulously illustrated, with a key locating important streets and buildings.

The map is apparently quite rare. OCLC locates only a single example in the French National Library, along with a 1725 edition, also known in a single example.
