1836 David Hugh Burr
$ 245.00
Description

Second edition of Greenleaf's scare map of Maryland and Delaware, from his Universal Atlas.

The second edition can be determined by the inclusion of a page number on the map and inclusion of a number of new place names in this second edition. The map is colored by counties and shows towns and early roads. David Burr is among the most important American map makers of the 19th Century, having served a term as the chief cartographer of the United States. His maps are prized by collectors for the detail and high quality engraving style.

The present example varies from the description in the Maryland archives in that it does not have a page number in the image. The Maryland Archives cataloguing is taken from the 1842 edition of the map.
