Description

A scarce and extremely desirable map of the Cherokee Nation in modern-day Tennessee, etc., shown between the Mississippi, Hogoheegee, Savannah and Chattahuche Rivers.

Numerous villages and notes are shown, with notes from early explorations by English Indian Agent George Pawley, who met with the Cherokee leadership at Chota in 1746. Pawley's journal of his agency was republished in the Journal of Cherokee Studies, Volume XVI, 1991 (1991): 3-22.
