Spectacular Illustrated London News View of New York City.

Large birds-eye view of the Manhattan from the South with elaborate borders and two further panoramas above and below.

Designed by Charles Parsons, engraved by Frank Leslie and printed from several woodblocks for the subscribers of the New York Illustrated News, November 26, 1853.

Charles Parsons (1821-1910) was a British painter who worked for a considerable time in New York, where he was a member of the National Academy of Design. Frank Leslie (1821-1880) was a wood engraver, known in America under this name, but was actually born Henry Carter in Ipswich, England.
