Description

Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor

Finely detailed map of part of the Southside Oahu, showing the area from Pearl Harbor to Diamond Head, centered on Honolulu.

The map shows a plan of Honolulu and locates Diamond Head, Punch Bowl and many other place names. The detail in Pearl Harbor is remarkable for the period, pre-dating the first American military base by several decades. Waikiki is shown a a separate remote community.

The Oahu Rail Road, Tramway to Quarantine Island and Marine Railway (established in 1883) are shown.

Excellent early topographical details and information concerning early roads.

The reference to Honolulu Chart No. 1381 (published in 1893), suggests a date of circa 1895-1900.

The chart is apparently very rare. We were not able to locate a surviving example.
