Scarce battle plan depicting the Battle of the Alma River in Crimea, one of the first battles of the Crimean War.

The Battle of the Alma was fought September 20, 1854 and pitted an Anglo-French force, led by Jacques Leroy de St. Arnaud and Fitzroy Somerset, First Lord of Raglan, against a Russian force led by Aleksandr Sergeyevich Menshikov.
