Description

Rare 1705 map of South America, published by Guillaume Sanson.

The map is a very late version of Pierre Mariette's Amerique Meridionale, which normally appears with a date of 1669, although it may have been issued as early as 1667. Mariette in turn, significantly revised and updated Nicolas Sanson's original map of South America, first issued in 1650.

The present map is quite rare. We find no records of this 1705 edition of map appearing on the market in the past 30 years.

Condition Description
Creasing at centerfold and some marginal soiling.
