Description

Rare separately issued map of Colorado, hand colored by counties, published by Henry T. Williams as a promotional item for miners and tourists interested in the San Juan Mining Region, Colorado's most recent mining boom region.

Williams's map of Colorado is one of the rarest separately published maps of Colorado, including nice detail in the newly formed San Juan County (formed January 1, 1876).

Includes a nice treatment of the early road system in Colorado and the river drainage system. The heights of many mountains are given. Nice detail in the mining regions.

An early promotional piece for the mining boom in the San Juan mountains, which would spur significant growth and interest in southwestern Colorado. The map credits Hayden for the source of much of the information.
