Description

Fascinating early map of Southeast Asia, extending from India to New Guinea and China and Japan south to Java, engraved by Bussemacher in Cologne.

The map includes the mythical land of "Beach" from Marco Polo's reports and extends to California, where Quivira and two other citis are shown. Japan is in its "Kite " configuration, with the Philippines in a virtually unrecognizable configuration.
