Description

Detailed map of Alamitos Bay, showing the lands of the Alamitos Land Company, which existed from 1895 until it was dissolved in 1895.

The map is signed by Lewellyn Bixby, who with his partners Thomas and Benjamin Flint ad James Irvine, purchased a number of large tracts of land and former Spanish and Mexican Ranchos and were responsible for the creation of a number of early towns, including Long Beach and Irivine. Initially the group were sheep ranchers, before commencing subdivision of the lands, first for farming purposes and later for more urbanized purposes.

The map shows the location of the low tide, along with streets and subdivided lots along the coast and Alamitos Bay.
