Description
Rare German edition of Cook's map of the Hawaiian Islands, from the first German edition of Cook's Third Voyage.
Unlike the English, French and Dutch editions of this map, Fritzsch includes a view of a Hawaiian outrigger canoe, rather than the inset map of Karakakooa Bay.
The map tracks Cook's route through the islands with dates of various observations and landfalls and provides an interesting topographical image of the islands.
The German edition of Cook's map of Hawaii is very rarely available on the market, this being the first example we have offered (1992-2012).
