Highly detailed town plan of Aspen, Colorado, publshed in Denver by Warren C. Willits.

Remarkably detailed mapping of Aspen on 4 sheets, almost certain the most elaborate map of the city published in the 19th Century. The map identifies property owners, commercial buildings and manufacturers, streets, subdivisions, block and lot numbers. A number of schools and public buildings are also named. In the surrounding mountains, mining claims, tunnels and mining related details are given. The line of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad is shown, with a very detailed plan of theRailroad Grounds, round house and other features given.

The map includes a small inset showing the Kimberly Survey of Aspen.

We were able to locate a reference to Warren C. Willits. who at some point served as Deputy U. S. Minerall and Land Surveyor and Examining Clerk in U. S. Surveyor. General's Office in Denver, Colorado. Willits also published a map of Golden, Colorado in 1878, Fort Collins in 1894, a map of Cripple Creek in 1896 (showing the burned parts of the town), a Map of Brown, Sherman, Republican and Leavenworth Mountains in 1878, a map of Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1898, Willits Farm Map (of North Central Colorado) in 1899 and a map of Leadville in 1895.
