Description

Detailed map of this important part of the City of London, orientated with north to top left, containing Fenchurch and Leadenhall Streets, and St.Mary Axe. Vignette views of St.James' and St Catherine's churches occupy the lower corners of this attractive plan.

The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche. Originally produced for the "London Magazine" in 1772, the present (slightly revised) version of the map was utilized in John Noorthouck's " A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark" (London : 1772-1773).

Other maps in this series were engraved by Thomas Bowen and this would also appear to be his work.
