Excellent regional map prepared for the Biggs Investment Company, depciting the mining regions in the area between Lake Sewell and York to the West and Elliston in the East, centered on Helena.
The map is quite unusual, in that is shows the location of claims on a much larger scale map, covering hundreds of square miles. The lines of the Northern Pacific Railroad, Great Northern Railroad and Red Mountain Railway are shown along with many other details.
OCLC locates only one copy (Montana Historical Society) and dates the map to "1900s." John Gilman Bullard was born in Helena in 1874 and appears to be the source of the map. Bullard did a larger map for the Biggs Investment Company (137x 104 cm) in about 1910 which is also known in a single copy at the University of Chicago.
