Description

Gorgeous map of North America, at a fascinating period following the American Revolution. The various possessions in North America are hand colored (Green for Spain, Red for Britain, Yellow for the US and Blue for France). Upper California is New Albion, with a reference to Drake. Teguayo and Quivira appear, as do the Apache lands. The River of the West is prominently featured. The Gila is shown far north of its true course. East and West Florida belong to the Spanish, as does Louisiana. No sign of Ohio or Tenneessee. Detroit appears, as do a few western Forts, including Ft. Duquesne, Ft. Bute, and Ft. Chartes. The Rio Grande extends to nearly Wyoming! Marvelous Northwest Coast of America. One minor tear entering the image at the lower left, else a fine example. Uncommon on the market.
